Jedna z pocztówek, którą artystka otrzymała od bohaterki wystawy, tytułowej Justiny
Poprzedni projekt Magdy Buczek, Justina is, pokazany w Łódź Art Center w ramach Fotofestiwalu 2010, prezentował dziennik podróży- fragmenty nietypowej korespondencji, którą bohaterka wysyła do artystki ze swoich wypraw. Obiekty, zdjęcia, statusy na Facebooku i film były świadectwem energii witalnej, erotyzmu i glamouru wbrew przeciwnościom losu.
Wystawa w Art Agenda Nova pokazuje drugi poświęcony Justinie projekt. Tym razem artystka patrzy na Justinę jak na figurę w perspektywie - obiektywu, kontekstu literackiego, ale też czasu, który jako kuzynki i przyjaciółki od dzieciństwa spędzały razem, a który teraz zaczyna je nieodwołalnie rozdzielać.
Kontekst literacki to Justyna i spółka, czyli diva i jej awanturnicze wspólniczki - Moll Flanders, Lulu i Fanny Hill. Łączy je zamiłowanie do przygód i maskarad oraz Londyn jako ich sceneria. Z map, wykresów, fragmentów tekstów i zdjęć wyłania się portret, którego bohaterka odwraca się do nas tyłem. Możemy poznać Justinę, ale niczego pewnego się o niej nie dowiemy.
Magda Buczek - studiowała na ASP w Krakowie i Królewskiej Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Antwerpii, interesuje ją fotografia, film, rysunek oraz praca z tekstem i found footage, w pracach podejmuje temat reprezentacji, często w dłuższej perspektywie czasowej (Justina, Lido), zdobywczyni nagrody "Młody Talent" i Nagrody Publiczności na Fotofestiwalu Łódź 2009, mieszka w Warszawie.
Dodatkiem do projektu jest umieszczony w klubie Bomba na pl. Szczepańskim wyświetlacz z tekstami z Facebookowego profilu bohaterki. Krótki teaser:

Who is Justina? A tireless pleasure seeker and habitué of night clubs in London, Ibiza, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Florence? A modern character of a picaresque novel? The master of juissance? Ruthless Lulu? A perfect mistress? Or perhaps a Polish girl struggling to find a place of her own in London??
The previous project of Magda Buczek entitled Justina is and shown at Łódź Art Centre during the Fotofestival 2010 presented a travel journal - pieces of specific correspondence, which the character sends to the artist from her travels. Objects, photos, Facebook statuses and movies showed vitality, eroticism and glamour against all odds.
This exhibition in Art Agenda Nova is a second project dedicated to Justina. This time the artist looks at her as a figure seen from a perspective of camera lens and literary context, but also from the perspective of passing time, which they used to spend together as cousins and childhood friends; and which now turns them inevitably apart.
Literary context is „Justine and company” meaning diva and her adventurous accomplices: Moll Flanders, Lulu i Fanny Hill. With London city as a scenery, they share a passion for adventures, and masquerade. Justina naturally shifts from image to image: from frivoulus Ms. Fanny she turns into non-perfect housewife thwarting feminist ideals. From maps, diagrams and fragments of texts emerges a portrait of Justina turning her back to us. You can meet her, but you can't learn anything about her.
Magda Buczek in her works she explores the theme of representation and interaction with audience. Author of chronological projects stretched over time (Justina, Lido). She is interested in photography, movies, drawing, working with text and found footage. The winner of the Young Tallent prize and the Prize of Audience on Fotofestiwal Łódź 2009. Studied at Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and Antwerp, now lives in Warsaw.
